Our Story
Opal D’Amore was established in 1988 by Vincenzo and Elma D’Amore. Vincenzo arrived to Andamooka Opal Fields in South Australia in 1968 where he began his opal mining ventures as an Opal Miner and Jeweller. Vincenzo later met wife, Elma who shared the same passion for the opal mining and jewellery industry. Together, they have been producing and selling opals and jewellery for over 30 years.
Andamooka is a desert town with a population of 300 citizens. It is situated 594km North from the nearest capital city, Adelaide. Andamooka is considered to have the finest opals ever discovered. Andamooka opal is praised for its intensity of colours and overall size. In 1954, Queen Elizabeth II was gifted an Andamooka opal which weighed 203 carats and was set into an ornate scrolled necklace made of diamonds. This was gifted along with a pair of opal and diamond earrings.
